**Reviews & Special Promo** Exploration & Obstruction ~ Peyton Sloan

Being with the same man since she was 18, 26 year old widow Jazz Mickelson is hoping to catch up on all the life experiences that could have been hers had she not leapt into a committed relationship so young.
Julian St. Sauveur is looking for three things: romance, comfort and trust. He mistakenly thought he had them once many years ago. He sees potential for him and Jazz but knows it is too soon for her.
Will she accept his unusual proposition, one that allows him to hold on to her while she catches up on life?...and will she choose him after experiencing all the wonders that await her?
Find out as Jazz and Julian explore their potential...

WOOSH! Pexton left me hanging right when it was getting juicy! Thank goodness book two, Obstruction, is already out and I’m getting ready to read and review that too (see that review below.) I think I’m in for a wild ride in this next book!

Jazz, mid 20’s, bohemian-style, Harley-riding biker chick, college educated, smart mouthed and totally loyal to those she loves. After a hard few years of taking care of her sick husband, whom recently died and knowing she still has a full life to live, Jazz takes off alone to Paris to “find herself.” Who sits next to her on the plane but this hot-looking Cajun (be still my heart! Yeah, I like those kind of books too, but that’s not this kind of book) named Julian, internationally renowned Architect, wealthy, and well, big flirt doesn’t even do him justice in this instance. He takes a liking to Jazz right away (she thinks he is pretty hot, too!) and it is a long flight to Paris so they become quite *clears throat* familiar with each other. They find out they are staying at the same hotel, so when they get to Paris, well things start happening in their friendship/relationship. She, however, still needs time to heal and explore her feelings and take things slow and this Julian realizes.

Peyton is a very visual and emotional writer. The book is written in omnipresent so the reader gets a greater feel and view of what all is going on; well, at least when Peyton decides it’s time for it to be revealed. I love that writing style, being in more than one person’s head. You are sort of like a god in that sense, looking down at all of the players, seeing and feeling what is going on; but only when Peyton chooses to reveal what she wants you to see. This book is H-O-T hot! Peyton knows how to write a love/sex scene! So get your towels ready people! I can hardly wait to read book two! I mean, it was getting HOTTER when she cliffhangered (is that a word?) me! I can’t wait to start book two! Something tells me book two is going to be even HOTTER! *fanning my face, looking for that towel, may need a sponge*

There were a few problems with grammar and editing that did give me pause. Yeah, it needs a little rework, and after talking to Peyton, she knows that, and after book three, that is in the works. So, while that is a minor problem the book is good and I recommend it. When the updates come from the rework, you will get them (well, I know Kindle does that, I can’t say for other formats.)

Rating: 4 Stars (Only because of the grammar and editing, because the story is good!)

Julian liked what he saw. He had tried to take a good look at her body without being obvious when he got up to let her by, but couldn't without being completely conspicuous. She certainly wasn't plasticized though. He did manage to get a better look at her cleavage and a hint of nipple outlined through her shirt when she brushed her ponytail aside. When he had leaned over to whisper to her not only had he confirmed that those breasts weren't after market, he was quite intoxicated by her scent. She was taller than average, had amazingly full lips and beyond dazzling hazel eyes. Their green surrounded a vibrant gold, rather than the usual brown. Admittedly, the multi-coloured braids had quite taken him aback at first—now he was curious about this unusual hairstyle.

So far she was receptive to conversation and certainly had an interesting story, although she seemed ashamed of her situation—and was certainly uncomfortable flying luxury business class. He hadn’t missed the couple of innuendos she’d already thrown out. He was fascinated and preparing a multitude of questions...most importantly he was devising a plan. Would she play?

He licked his lips watching her walk away—nice, firm ass, slightly curvy hips, toned thighs. She walked with a smooth, natural sway...sweet! Single and travelling alone no less. He didn't want to come on like a lech but he couldn't help the responsive stirring that resulted from his indecent thoughts combined with the teasing tone of her last comment.

He ordered their drinks then followed her. He leaned against the wall across from the lavatory door and crossed his arms. Hearing the latch open he positioned himself so she had no option—when she opened the door he was directly in front of her, filling up the space. She started to excuse herself and attempt to get by when he quickly put his finger to his lips with a Sssh and then put that same finger to her mouth. He moved her back into the bathroom with a full body press. He felt the small, soft swell of her belly against the tops of his thighs. Her eyes widened as she started to blurt out something but he put his finger back to her lips, all the while moving forward with his hips against her.

"Don't be scared, I'm not going to hurt you."

"Well, that should go without saying, unless you're a complete idiot. After all we are in an airplane and you have no escape. What do you want with me that required this action?"

He quickly reached around and with one hand latched the door to the "occupied" position while using the index finger of the other on her mouth again, gently grazing her lower lip.

"I am intrigued by you—I want to get to know you better."

"And you need to do that in a bathroom?" Her tone was mocking.

"No." There was that chuckle again. "But a bit of privacy is nice to establish the potential.”

"The potential of what?"

"This..." He brought that index finger under her chin, tilted her face up and bent down, softly putting his lips to hers.

He released her. "I had to follow-up on my theory that you tasted as good as you smell, both of which are divine by the way...especially your taste..."

"I'm glad your hypothesis has been confirmed. What now?"

"Well I am going to occupy the bathroom for a bit longer. You will go back to our seats—our drinks should be arriving. While you take that first sip of your dirty martini I will leave you with some potential." He placed her hand on his groin where his erection was beginning to strain his suit pants. She gasped and tried to pull back but he held her there.

"I think you know what I'll be doing while I'm in here...I'll be thinking of your fragrance and your sweet, soft mouth while I relieve myself."

His lips brushed her forehead. He released her hand, stepped to the side and opened the door smirking the whole time. Jazz looked at her hand, giggled nervously, and peeked out the door praying that no one was paying attention. She gave Julian a look that said I can't believe you just said and did that and walked towards their seats.

Drinks were being mixed a couple of rows away and she collapsed down, regaining her composure just before the cart reached her.

"A shaken gin martini, Mrs. Mickelson, dry and a little dirty?”

"Yes—but I don't know what Mr. St. Sauveur ordered."

"I believe it was Campari and soda. If not, he'll be happy with that. There are only two or three things he ever drinks."

Further proof the staff was more than familiar with this dazzling, rather intimidating and definitely inappropriate man. Ensconced in her seat, her drink on her table and her book in her hand, Jazz tried desperately to remain detached and affronted as Julian sat down beside her a few minutes later. It didn’t help that her panties were now moist and her skin remained flushed.

When Julian St. Sauveur, described in Architectural Digest as the "Rock Star of the Architectural World" was seated beside the bohemian woman on his flight to Paris, he never would have conceived how events would this young widow would capture his mind, heart and soul so quickly and completely. She was a force of nature and his equal in every way — passion, anger, joy and just plain silliness.
Jazzmyne Mickelson took off on a journey of self- exploration and was likewise thrown off balance by the beautiful and urbane man who sat beside her.
He is curious, inappropriate and completely proprietary...she is fascinated, responsively inappropriate and swept off her feet. She is naïve and overwhelmed, thrilled and frightened in his presence. He is thinking he has found his greatest desires.
Barely begun, and tenuously fresh, Jazz and Julian's relationship is tested by each other and the spectre of Julian's burgeoning fame which accosts them at every turn resulting in deceit and terror.
Will they find a way through the obstacles together and stronger or will they be torn apart, broken beyond repair?

Whew! Good! The ending in this book left me on a good note! *breathe* I can hold out for book three just fine! Thank you, Peyton! Hmmm, I may get my Cajun book yet! Just sayin’ *hint hint* *wink wink* *runs out and buys a Cajun dictionary*

Jazz and Julian’s relationship is progressing on a good note; or so Julian hopes. He knows what he wants and who/what he wants is Jazz: in his life, in his home, in his bed forever. She’s already in his heart. He just wants to make sure she wants him. As things progress, and Jazz begins to feel more comfortable with Julian, his celebrity status and past starts throwing road blocks in their way, causing Jazz to question if their relationship is what she truly needs. This almost emotionally breaks Julian. This book is very much more mysterious and antsy. There is a couple of people you want to punch, kick, stab…I could go on. The secondary characters really help move the book along to a good ending that bring this book to a good place to where we can live with it until the next book comes out so we aren’t left hanging in a bad place.

I loved this book even more than book one. I can tell, Peyton is beginning to find her voice, soul and style as a writer. She did well with book one but with this book she did great. I can honestly say, I am looking forward to book three and that sexy Cajun Julian (Oh, Chère!) and that bad girl biker with the sexy girl flair, Jazz. Oh and the sex/love scenes burn-your-fingers scorching! Editing was so much better this time. Not much too much to complain about this time. So, can you tell I LOVED this book?

Rating: 5 Star

What the hell? Jazz’s eyes popped open. Julian lay on his side, his head propped up on his hand, smiling down at her. She began laughing…

“I’ve never…I mean I heard they did, but…”

“Isn’t he magnificent?” The rooster crowed again, closer this time.

She got on her knees, her eyes searching the pasture.

Oh my god, Julian. Look.”

Julian sat up beside her. A black rooster with a flurry of white feathers erupting from the top of his head was strutting around the meadow for all he was worth.

“He’s so cute, cock of the walk.” The rooster answered in the affirmative, crowing right at them.

They convulsed into laughter, Julian dropped back onto the bed bringing Jazz with him.

“Guess I’ve been dethroned.

“Yeah, it’s definitely the ’doo and the swagger. Work on those and you may regain the title.”

“Then I better get busy.” He rolled out of bed, dragging it back into place, Jazz still lying in the middle. “You sleep until now?

“Yeah, thank you for the sedative.” She waggled her eyebrows.

“My pleasure, any time Chère.” He put his hands on his hips, doing his best runway strut and turn. Jazz admired not only his fine ass, but also how his tattooed wings rippled down his back and thighs as he walked away.

“And…?” He struck a pose, looking at her over his shoulder from the doorway.

“Ya gotta long way to go honey,” she responded with a giggle.

She heard him peeing, the toilet flushing, and then water running. He came out with his toothbrush in his mouth.

“Wan ta go for a run thith orning?” he asked through the toothpaste before disappearing again.

He was back in seconds. “Hmmm, that feels better. Ah! No crowds, no paparazzi—just fresh country air and perhaps the occasional cock crowing.”

“Excellent idea. When is our meeting with de Valois?”

“Not until nine-thirty. What’s so funny?” Jazz was sporting a wide smile.

“Cock crowing. We usually call them roosters…cock is, well—cock, and you’re standing in front of me naked with your morning hard-on. I find it funny and hot.”

He sauntered towards the bed, a decidedly wicked look on his face. “Wanna make me crow?” He stopped at the edge, erection in hand. Jazz came over on all fours, her head tilted up, licking her lips. She sat up on her knees, dragging her fingers up and down his inner thighs, leaving wet kisses down his happy trail. She licked his shaft from base to tip and blew gently causing him to put his hands on her shoulders and let out a moan. She leaned back, tossed her hair out of the way, sheathed her teeth, and wrapped her mouth around his purple crown, her tongue circling across the plush head down to the corona. She flicked the frenulum while grabbing his ass, pulling him closer, taking as much of him as she was able, slowly in and out…again…once more. When she released his cock, pushing it up towards his stomach and licked down the underside of his shaft, then took his balls in her mouth, his knees buckled.

“Lay down Julian.” He complied and she fell on him like a ravenous vampire, her knuckles kneading his perineum while she stroked and fucked him with her mouth. He was leaning on his elbows, watching her, his chest heaving as she worked him towards orgasm. Her legs stiffened, and she pulled gently on his balls, increasing the speed of her stroke. As he came she met his gaze, swallowing rapidly, capturing every bit, before laying her head on his groin, his cock still in her mouth. He laid back. His hands no longer supporting him, he moved her hair off her face and caressed her cheek.

They lay still for a few minutes, quiet but for the occasional animal welcoming the morning, at least the silly rooster was through. She released him, leaving a kiss on his tip. “I’ll just pee and brush my teeth. We should leave a note for Philippe and Hélène so they don’t wonder where we went.”

“Not sure if I have the strength to go for a run now. Think you did me in.”

“Uh-uh. I’m pumped.”

“That’s only because you got your breakfast protein.”

“Don’t think sperm counts honey.”

I’m an only child of amazing parents who are not only still with me but vibrant. I grew up on a grain farm in rural Manitoba Canada. Between the rents and an amazing “aunt and uncle” (they were the farmers a mile down the road), they instilled a love of reading in me at an early age. My parents never censored anything I read and much of my early allowance and birthday money was spent on paperbacks. I have a vivid recollection of being in third grade reading about this kid who was the subject of some kind of experimentation and the word “electroencephalogram” was in it—I asked the teacher what that was and she had no idea. I devoured everything from L. M. Montgomery and Nancy Drew to Gone with the Wind, Go Ask Alice and Jacqueline Susann as a preteen.

In my senior year of High School, one of our assignments was to write a 1,500 word short story. Mine was a romance and my teacher gave me an A+ with a comment that it was a “great soap opera” – and that was from a guy!

I thought about journalism for college, but this was almost 40 years ago and the nearest school offering it was
almost 1,500 miles away, too far for a rural country girl. Instead I studied performance piano, having taken lessons since the age of 5, completely useless in the real world but music was a huge priority in our family and I was surrounded by it growing up. My dad and his siblings and my grandfather all played multiple instruments (good times for family occasions!) so music is another one of my passions.

I have been fortunate to have parents with whom I saw and spent time in every province of Canada except
Newfoundland and who with I visited over ten states of the USA before I left home and a husband who is a Montreal native and for many years travelled world-wide for work allowing me to experience many more places, many in North American while riding my Harley-Davidson Heritage Softail!

Making my way through life I have always been able to maintain my reading habit. One of my fantasies has
always been to write a best-selling book and over the years I have written down bits and pieces but never went further or explored the publishing world. That possibility seriously didn’t exist when I knew it would be endless rejection and waiting; wasted money on postage. The advent of electronic media and self-publishing has changed all that.

Without doubt the most wonderful, scary thing I have ever done is embark on this journey of writing what I
hope will be wonderful stories for other bibliophiles! Marrying my hubs of 27 years was wonderful too, and although it maybe should have been scary as he asked me and I answered yes on our first date, it wasn’t… And bear in mind that we had only met two weeks previously and only seen each other in a group setting a couple of times during those two weeks. To put your imagination out there, especially in the genre of erotic romance fiction is enough to make the most extroverted individual cringe. But I use this alter-ego of Peyton Sloane as an excuse for everything inappropriate, and it provides the opportunity for those who know me in real life to respond in a like manner which is proving to be the most fun!

For now, I write and still have a full-time career. My home life is the hubs and our two little divas (Schi-poos
from the same litter). Writing is something I hope to be doing well into my retirement—one of the few pastimes where you are not limited by the scourge of age on your physical being, and, the deity willing, my mind stays intact will still be a passion 25 years from now!

I have heard writers speak often about how their characters write their own stories, aside from the “authorgasms” that happy readers give me, I hope I never stop being amazed by this writing process. I have cried, laughed till my sides hurt and railed at my characters for their actions —through the editing process as well…when I know exactly what’s going to happen. I find it mystical how the story and characters take on a life of their own. May everyone who reads about them enjoy their lives as much as I!
