***Release Day/Review*** Stay by S. Mulholland

Stay

by: S. Mulholland

Synopsis~

Eighteen year old Alexandra Angel has finally made it out of her abusive mother’s house alive, now going to St. Norbert College in the small town she grew up in; she wants to experience living her own life, free of abuse, but on the night she meets Jason Roberts; her fate has something different in mind.

Alexandra and Jason have a strong connection but the closer she gets to him, the further he shuts her out. This doesn’t stop Alexandra’s heart from falling in love with Jason and she fears that he might not feel the same way about her. Jason holds a lot of mystery and secrets that Alexandra tries to figure out and on a night when they are to meet, he never shows up, leaving her to mourn the loss of his absence.

Months later, he returns to tell her he’ll never be able to be with her the way that she wants to be with him. Hurt for the second time by the man she loves, Alexandra decides to move on with her life with what others told her to be “the perfect man”, Zac Millington. As time with him goes by she realizes that things were never as they seemed…as he seemed.

If you had the opportunity to change what becomes your worst nightmare, would you take the chance to change it or pretend like that nightmare is what’s meant to be?

Stay is a romantic depiction of how two people that are meant to be together are torn apart by the one thing they both have in common. As they both go through their own versions of abuse, will they be able to stay after finally finding each other again?

Amy's Thoughts~

Stay is a beautiful, emotional story about a girl named Alex. A girl who is emotionally and physically abused by the one person who is supposed to keep you safe. The day comes that she breaks free from her prison and escapes to college against the odds. Here at college, she is finally free to live her life.

Considering the environment Alex was raised in, I expected to find an emotionally broken girl who would have difficulty committing herself.  I was surprised to find a strong woman who survived and was not broken by her circumstances. It amazes me even more that she managed to hide her scars and keep her past from everyone around her.

I'm not going to say much more because I don't want to spoil it. Jason is a great guy who has his own set of problems to overcome.

This book is a great debut novel for S. Mulholland. It will rock you to your core, probably make you cry, and surprise you to the point that your jaw hits the floor. Suly Mulholland did a fantastic job of shocking the crap out of me. That doesn't happen often. I will say that this is definitely not your every day romance.

You do not want to miss out on this fantastic book!

Excerpt~

“Alexandra…let me hear you say it…” He whispers.

All thoughts evaporate from my mind at the sound of his voice.

I want to turn around and face him but his hands go to my hips then, slowly turning and walking me towards something.

As we come to a stop his body presses into me from behind pushing me up against the door that shut moments ago.

I slightly open my eyes but everything is blurry which confuses me until his hands roam every curve of my body making me close them again.

My heart rate picks up and I hope that he can’t hear how loud it’s beating. “Say what?” I ask breathlessly.

His hands stop their exploration at my stomach.

I gasp when pulls me back into him and I feel every inch of his hardness.

I try to open my eyes again so that I can see him but I can’t. I’m so in the moment with this man that my brain doesn’t seem to be functioning correctly. All I know is that his voice alone is lighting my body on fire.

One of his hands leaves my stomach and I feel my hair being moved to the side. His lips start to torture me on my neck and I shiver. He places feather like kisses there and I struggle not to let my knees buckle.

“Say that you understand your mine and nobody else’s…” He says when he gets near my ear.

About S. Mulholland~

I’m from Green Bay, Wisconsin. I went to a small private college in a town called De Pere before joining the U.S. Navy in 2006. After my short career in the military, I got married and started having kids. I have two munchkins now, I’ve been a stay at home mom for a couple of years.

This past Christmas, my husband got a Nook Color as a gift and he never got to use it because it was always glued to my hands. I never liked reading but once I picked up that Nook—I was addicted. So I’ve read a TON of books and it’s become my getaway. I started writing as a hobby but after I finished Stay, my husband encouraged me to get out there…so here I am. I love listening to music and find it inspirational and I think that it goes hand in hand with writing.

**REVIEW** After Tuesday by Renee Ericson

AFTER TUESDAY

by Renee Ericson

Synopsis~

Family really is a pain…especially when your father is an addict.

For the last two years, high school senior Ruby has been her own rock and solace. She has learned to depend only on herself and hides her family's issues by keeping herself somewhat unnoticeable. Despite her isolation, Ruby has intrigued the affections of someone unexpected. Finding herself loving life once again as his persistence sparks a romance awakening a well-protected heart.

While Ruby’s relationship with her father is constantly teetering, her new-found affection continues to blossom into something more than she ever thought possible. Soon, Ruby comes to realize that opening up your heart means being susceptible to love and disappointment.

Amy's Thoughts~

Ruby "Tuesday" isn't your normal average teenager. Losing her mother at a young age, she's been raised by her addict father. Addict being the operative word here. He's not just an alcoholic, he's a user. Checking out of reality to escape his life - and his daughter. Ruby works towards making through her senior year of high school. She's not abused, she's not anything. She's left alone to deal with the house, with the bills, with groceries. It's not unusual to her. It's what she does, it's what she knows.

Brent is a great male character with one pretty big flaw. He assumes. And we all know what happens when we assume something.  Brent is certainly handsome & is an "all in" kinda guy.

The emotions conveyed in this one are powerful.

Ruby's thoughts "When will someone fight for me?" Haven't we all felt that way before??

Brent - "I want to be with you because I need to be. Those other things don't matter. I can handle all of them...because they're part of you. I want to be with you because when I'm with you, near you, around you, I'm better than any other version of me."

*sigh*

Renee Ericson is simply astonishing in her storytelling. I wasn't ready for the story of Ruby & Brent to come to a close.

Interview w/ Melissa Andrea~

TTP ~  Who or what inspired your passion for writing?

MA~ Sandra Brown. I am obsessed with her books and I love everyone of her stories!

TTP~ Where is your favorite place to write?
MA~ Couch or my office :))

TTP~ Where do you find inspiration?
MA~ In literally EVERYTHING LOL. Songs, quotes, commercials, anything.

TTP~ Do you develop each character prior to writing the book or do they flow naturally?
MA~ They reveal themselves as I'm writing. We grow together :))

TTP~ Do you have a favorite author?
MA~ Sandra Brown. Tabatha Vargo and I have a TON more!

TTP~ How do you balance work, home, life and personal time with your writing?
MA~ That's still a work in progress. I write between 8pm-3am in the morning and I am up again at 6am to get my daughter ready for school. I try to write on and off during the day, but with an 11mth old and a 5 yr old still at home, that doesn't work very often. Laundry, cleaning, cooking - those usually take a back seat when I am trying to finish a book, but my husband is amazing and usually picks up the slack for me. Finding that balance is important, but sometimes impossible.

TTP~ If you could give advice to someone who is wanting to write, what would you say? Where should they start?
MA~ Always believe in yourself! Don't be your own worst enemy! It's very easy to psych yourself out. So step back, read a book, eat some ice cream, watch a movie - do anything to relax your mind & then try again. Don't give yourself limitations, writers know no such thing.
TTP~ Do you have any quirky habits you do while writing? If so, what are they?
MA~ I act out my scenes haha. I'll mimic the gestures so my writing feels more real.

TTP~ If you could see your characters on the Big Screen what celebs would play what part?
MA~ That's a hard one, I think I would want fresh new faces!

Who is Melissa Andrea~

I find it hard to sum up my life in a paragraph, but I’ll try.

I am the author of Flutter, The Discover Series! Reading has always been a passion for me, and writing as instinctive as breathing.Every inhale is an idea; every exhale a creation. The only thing I do better than writing you ask? Making beautiful girls. My daughter’s will always be my greatest accomplishment.

I was born in Denver, Colorado–but I will always think of sunny Arizona as my home. I don’t have a big family, but I’m close with my sister, brother & my mom. My mom is my hero, my inspiration, and I couldn’t have asked for a more amazing person to be raised by.

4 things you should know about me: I’m very girly, but I can get down and dirty with the best of them. I adore the color pink and things that sparkle (including vampires), I am a firm believer that chocolate cures ALL and I like even numbers (hence 4 things about me, not 5) Okay, maybe I cheated a little with my list, shhhh.

Restore My Heart & Salvaged by Chelsea Camaron

Restore My Heart

Daddy's Girl #1

  by: Chelsea Camaron

Synopsis~

Bad Boy, Ryder Davenport comes into Dina Fowlers life in the middle of her own personal hell. Still coming to terms with the death of her parents, she pushes everyone away. When she trusts the wrong man, putting her in a bad relationship she felt she couldn’t escape, Ryder comes along. Enjoying his play boy ways, fast cars, motorcycles and a new woman in his bed nightly, Ryder had no thoughts of settling down. That is, until he sees the damage a man can do when he meets a very broken Dina. He changes in hopes of one day being enough for her. But, can she ever feel safe with a man again? Ryder has restored hundreds of classic cars, can he restore Dina’s heart?

Amy's Thoughts~

Restore My Heart is a sweet, short story about a woman who doesn't know her own worth. Dina has been through hell and back. An ex boyfriend learned to play on every single weakness she had. Next thing she knows she's being beaten, and then rescued by Ryder.

Feeling like a shell of herself, Dina closes herself off from everyone except Maggie. She gets tongue-tied around Ryder even though she's already half way in love with him. Ryder is so YUMMO!! Successful business owner & reformed player. He's adored Dina from the moment he first met her and decided to change his ways.

After a series of misfortunate events and lack of communication, these two finally get their acts together and it's immediate sparks and love.

Restore My Heart is a sweet read, definitely recommend when you want something to warm your heart.

Salvaged

Daddy's Girl #2

Synopsis~

Brayden and Maggie have been dating for four years. Maggie is ready and expecting an engagement ring. Brayden has a past full of weaknesses and mistakes he can’t seem to shake. As he slowly loses everything, he also loses Maggie. As his world unravels, can he find the strength to shake his inner demons? Does he have it in him to face the ghosts of his past? Can Maggie overcome his deceptions? Will they find a way to love and trust again?

Amy's Thoughts~

I have to say I was kinda shocked with this book. In book 1, Brayden & Maggie seemed to have the perfect relationship. WOW... was I wrong.

Brayden has secrets. BIG secrets. He managed to keep his demons hidden, his secrets from being exposed until like everything in life, it caught up with him.  Maggie put everything into her life with Brayden, gave him ultimate control. He dropped the ball. Big Time. Shattering Maggie and leaving her a shell of herself, she takes the time to find herself again. To figure out who she is without Brayden.

As I said, this book kinda shocked me. Again it's a short story at just under 160 pages, but so much fills those pages.

Chelsea Camaron takes a stab at doing alternating POVs in these books. While the first book was a little rocky in this respect, the 2nd book soars, she found her niche so to speak. Also, in this book we are introduce to the broading, sexy older brother of Maggie named Harrison - whom I personally can't wait to get to know better in the 3rd book in the series.

Stages of Grace by Carey Heywood

Stages of Grace

by Carey Heywood

Synopsis~

Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, Acceptance...

When facing death a mourning period is to be expected. But what if it's not a person but a relationship that dies? Grace and her boyfriend Jon have been together for three years. They live together and have shared many beautiful memories. Those memories are what keep Grace from admitting Jon has changed and is no longer the man she fell in love with.

Afraid of being alone and holding on to something that no longer exists Grace is a shadow of her former self. Her daily objective is to hide her pain from the world. Then, an unexpected letter sets off a whirlwind of potential life changes. In life sometimes the hardest thing to do is let go.

Amy's Thoughts~

I really didn't know what to expect going into reading Stages of Grace

Grace lives with her boyfriend of 3 years, and she's stuck. We go on a trip through the stages along with Grace.

     Denial
     Anger
     Bargaining
     Depression
     Acceptance

Being that I am generally not a person who enjoys lots of monologue in a story I was surprised that this didn't bother me in this one. It was necessary to get an inside look at what goes on in Grace's mind. It helps create that connection to her. I was also engaging & help suck me into her world.

It's healing to see what Grace is like at the beginning of the book & the person she become at the end of the book.

Stages of Grace is an emotionally charged book. Leveling out at only 269 pages, as your reading it, it feels like 500. However, you are so engaged in the emotional roller coaster you're on that it shocks you to realize just how far into the book you are. This book can touch everyone in one way or another.

The Denial at knowing that a relationship is over, but holding onto hope that it can be saved.

The Anger we have all felt when we found we were wronged.

The Bargaining at which we decide - do we give it one last shot or move on?

The Depression over making the choices & questioning whether they are the right ones or not.

The Acceptance of realizing the decisions you have made were the right ones for you to give yourself what you deserve - happiness.

Carey Heywood - WOW! Just wow. Props for an amazing story! This book affected me so deeply, as I have been through each of these stages in my own life.

Strings by Kendall Grey

Strings

Hard Rock Harlots
By Kendall Grey

Synopsis~

WARNING: STRINGS is not suitable for slut shamers, uptight stone throwers, Holier-Than-Thou prudes, humorless virgins, persons with chronic neck or back pain, pearl-clutching bitties, those who disparage crude humor or vulgarity in their many forms, closed-minded people with sticks up their asses, or anyone under the age of 18. The vile, base language and shocking, unholy sexual acts contained herein are not condoned by anyone with a lick of sense and should certainly not be reproduced without proper training and protection. The potty-mouthed and perpetually horny "heroine" (the term is used loosely) of this book does not resemble a normal, well-adjusted, or remotely believable person in any way, shape, or form. The author acknowledges that the characters in this book are shallow and two-dimensional; the plot is both ridiculous and insipid. She makes no apologies for any of it.

* Readers are strongly advised to wear latex gloves whilst reading to minimize contamination risks.

Free-spirited musician Letty Dillinger adheres to a strict, "no strings attached" policy when it comes to men. After a wild night of unabashed sex in a fancy hotel room, she never expects to see the adventurous stud she dubs "Shades" again. When her all-girl rock trio books a tour at the last minute as the opening act for their archenemies, Letty's shocked to discover she knows the competition's new lead singer. Intimately. Shades is no longer a one-night stand. Now he's the guy she has to one-up on stage every night for the sake of her career.

Sharing close quarters on a bus with her sexy nemesis and his bad-boy buddies puts Letty's Golden Rule to the test. On this tour, guitar strings aren't the only things being played. And when heartstrings are pulled too hard, they're bound to snap sooner or later.

Amy's Thoughts~

Never did I think I would purchase a book based solely on a WARNING notice posted on the synopsis. BUT I did ~ and I'm so glad!!!!!!!

Strings is EVERYTHING the author warns you about, as long as you're not a "stick in the mud" you should LOVE it. As someone who prides herself on being open minded. I so beyond loved it. And I found that you had to look beyond "the raunch" to find the hidden gem. Although, sometimes a girl needs a little "not so heavy" to keep her occupied! ;)

It was down, dirty, gritty, annoying, so fucking sexy, hot, panty dropping good!! Now that I'm invested in Letty, Todd (Shades), & the rest of the bands, I can't wait to hear about Jinx's story!!!!

Letty Dillinger & Todd "Shades Armstrong are on fire when they are in the same room.  Two different bands, forced on a summer tour together by their manager, you know sparks are gonna fly. It starts on their first gritty night together and stays smoldering until the last sexy page of the book.

**TAKE NOTE** Read the Warning label before you purchase it!!!! Kendall Grey is not joking in her warning. If you get your panties in a twist and can't open your mind easily DO NOT BUY!

If you are open minded, enjoy raunch, and are adventurous, READ READ READ!!!

Kendall Grey ~ Thank you for keeping it out of the box!!! You Rock!!!!

The sparks of dislike burn hot, but the sparks of mutual attraction burn even hotter.

Ever Montgomery suffered the ultimate betrayal by the one man who she should have been able to count on for anything. It has left her hurt, jaded and incapable of forming relationships, but it also means that she can spot a liar a mile away.  These traits are earning her a reputation as a reporter with a keen nose for a good story and a complete understanding of the extreme power of the written word.

Lincoln Caldwell, is the hot goalie for the New York Rangers. At twenty-four and a rising star, he works hard and he plays even harder. He’s gorgeous and carefree—the ultimate charmer.  Ladies fall at his feet and the single life has never been lived the way Linc Caldwell does it.

When Ever publishes an article about Linc containing information that she received off the record, she finds herself on the receiving end of the athelete’s fury.  Rather than basking in the glory of exposing Linc as a shameless user of women, she finds herself at his mercy when he demands and receives retribution.  Required by her editor to trail Linc for six weeks, Ever is forced to look at the real Linc Caldwell.

And she just might find that she has misjudged him.

*REVIEW* Love by Design & Life by Design by Elizabeth James

Love by Design

Design#1

by Elizabeth James

I had the pleasure of receiving Love by Design and Life by Design to review.  Elizabeth James is a fantastic author. It would be a shame to miss this great series. These are both short, sweet reads apart of a 3 book series. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did!

SYNOPSIS~

Callie Brandon wasn't looking for love; it always ended up at the feet of someone else. But when a sexy architect sets his determined, baby blue eyes on her, she starts to believe maybe life has designed her very own "happily ever after".

Amy's Thoughts~

Callie Brandon is a great MC. She's deep and thoughtful, always mindful of her friends, even those she thinks are her friends. In this first installment, we get to go on a trip with Callie. A trip in which she realizes who her real friends are, who she can count on, who she can/can not trust, & just exactly what she deserves.

Justin Brisson is Callie's buddy Joe's son. Meeting Callie was not just chance. Justin has worked hard to get his architecture firm off the ground, doing whatever he needed to do to succeed.

Callie and Justin set off on a whirlwind romance, where a world of miscommunication is their biggest down fall! I wonder if I've seen more miscommunication (except maybe in RL)!!

Mrs. James did a great job telling Callie & Justin's story in Love by Design. There was a few moments when it felt that things were maybe rushed a bit, but overall great job! The reader is able to connect with Callie and Justin as most relationships in real life has a much miscommunication as these two do!! Lesson here folks..... Talk to your significant other!! It just might save you a world of heartache!

Life by Design

Design#2

SYNOPSIS~

Jane Carter’s life had never been easy. Leaving her parents behind only to be abandoned pregnant by the one man she thought she could depend on, she had a sense that things just weren’t going to be easy for her or her precious daughter Jolene. She’s so skeptical about life, she thinks she’s dreaming when she catches the eye of handsome, successful architect Jay Anderson. Will Jay be willing to accept her and her child or will she be forced to return to a past that just won’t go away. Falling in love is easy. Life is hard. Has life finally designed the happy ending she’s always dreamed of?

Amy's Thoughts~

I love Jane & Jolene. Jane is an amazing single mom, dealing with the life that she has been dealt. She's a PA to her bestie Callie, and has always had a major crush on Jay. When Jay notices her, they immediately hit it off due to Jay being raised by a single mom. Jolene is the cutest little girl. I could just see her in my head as I was reading about her. Reminded me a lot of my own little Diva.

Jay immediately captures Jane & Jolene's heart. Even though he has other things going on in his life he must deal with first, he wants them. He wants a family, he wants the relationship with Jane. Convincing Jane is another story, as Jane is determined to protect him from her past.

Elizabeth James had another winner with this 2nd installment of the Design Series. I am loving the flow of her books and her characters are rock solid. I love that we were able to keep up with Callie & Justin in this book as well. There's a true family in Callie, Justin, Jane, Jolene, & Jay. I'm an so excited to finish this series up with Forever by Design (3rd book in the series)

If you haven't read Love by Design and Life by Design, you can find them here.....

Envisioned

By: Nikki Narvaez

Synopsis~

Brielle De Luca thought she was just an average girl, despite her nightly dreams of an impending apocalypse, along with a gorgeous man that pulls at her soul.

However, on the night of her 18th birthday, everything changes when she is thrown into the Elemental World, a world where she is supposedly the One that is spoken about in an ancient Prophecy; a Prophecy that states she is the key to preventing an apocalypse.

Now she must learn to control her power over the four elements, all while dealing with the love and intense passion of her bond to the man from her dreams, Jace Vasquez.

Piece of cake, right?

Excerpt~

He stepped closer, only a couple of feet away from me. He smelled heavenly, like rain and citrus. “Every night. I've been trying to figure out a way to find you, to save you, and here you are, so close all this time, and I never knew,” he sadly said.

It was my turn to step closer. Tears pooled in my eyes as I said, “I didn't think you existed. I hoped that you did, but I thought I was crazy to believe that I could find you.”

I reached out my hand to touch his face. When I did, a jolt of electricity sparked between us, spreading what felt like burning honey throughout every inch of my body. What was happening to me? Whatever it was, I didn't want it to stop; it was one of those pains that felt amazingly good, almost addictive. Jace's eyes widened as an astonished smile spread across his face. “Unbelievable,” he said as he grabbed a handful of my curls at the back of my head, pulling my face to his to crush his lips to mine.

His kiss was desperate, just like his gaze in my nightmares, only multiplied. I opened his mouth with my tongue, tangling with his as our passion increased. I had never had a kiss come close to this one, and it had just started. He tasted exotic, a subtle sweetness present as he caressed my tongue with his. I clutched his shirt, twisting it in my hands as I tried to pull his body to become one with mine. Heat rushed in-between my thighs and pooled there, sending tendrils of burning warmth up my stomach. I never wanted this to end; the world could stop turning right now, and I would be oblivious, deliriously happy in Jace's lips.

Welcome to the world of the Elementals.

Earth, fire, water, & air.

Every Elemental has one, but only the One can control them all.

Twin Flames ~ one soul, separated by the gods, to find one another, soul mates.

The Prophecy ~ A child will be born, who within, the blood of Air, Earth, Fire, & Water dwell, The Sky will fall to reclaim the Earth, and bring forth the depths of Hell, Fire will journey to the mountains cast from Medusa's gaze, To halt what Evil has been sent to raze.

Meet Brielle, she dreams of an unknown man. Nightmares of him being taken from her. On her 18th birthday she gets an untimely introduction to the world of the Elementals & she meets him - Jace.

Jace - Fire Elemental - UFC fighter champion - gave up meeting his Flame, didn't believe in the twin flame, until he meets her. He thought the dreams were just dreams, he never thought she was real.

One touch, and two lives were changed. FOREVER.

The author pulls us into a world of gods & goddess, Elementals, monsters & magic. Throughout the story we get amazing details to fill us in on the world she has created, and she did an amazing job. Wonderful details that are generally overlooked, the author didn't miss a beat. There was plenty of fighting, magic, love & sex in this one! And she did a pretty welcome job of helping me create the world in my head. In felt like I was there.

Fantastic start to her series. I'm anxious to see what she packs into the 2nd installment.

Despite the odds, Reed Wolfe is making it, by the skin of her teeth. Her dreams and aspirations will have to wait until she can get on her feet. Because right now she’s homeless and churning on a downward spiral.

Falcon Black is existing. Not living, not thriving, just jutting along a path. But when he finds Reed, he can’t resist the urge to help her, lighten her load. But Falcon tends to go overboard, over the line, crossing boundaries he never thought he would and risking her trust in the process.

DOWN 'N' DERBY

Synopsis~

Maddox is running.

By accident, he discovered long ago that he was adopted as a baby and his need to find his biological father has consumed him ever since. Now, on a road trip, determined to find his father and his sanity, and armed with locations and his cousin, Nixon, to help him, maybe he can find the answers he’s been searching for. With nothing but a suitcase and a wad of cash to get him there, lead after lead takes him further from home.

But he’ll find much more than he intended.

He finds Storey, a pint sized pin-up model who has learned painful lessons about guys. Her wounds run deep, but so do his. She knows what she wants, but will she recognize it when it’s right in front of her?

Maddox can’t touch anyone without feeling like his skin is crawling, but just maybe his instinct to protect this amazing girl will supersede his own hang-ups.

If he can brush her skin and start to feel alive inside...everything will change.

Excerpt~

He got up after that but turned around after a few steps later and gave me one last piece of his pitiful mind. “You’re cute all right, but damn, what a wench.”

I was prepared to shrug him off. I was usually called the ice queen or frosty by guys and this was just one more instance where I could care less what he thought of me. But Suntan had a different plan. He stood up as the pig was passing and said something in a voice so low and deep that I couldn’t hear the words. But whatever it was Pig didn’t like it one bit. He shoved Suntan back a few steps and I could tell he let that happen. If he wanted to, he wouldn’t have moved one inch. The other guy with him now stood up behind him, jeering him on. “Kick his ass, Maddox.”

“Don’t touch me again and you should apologize to the lady. Where I come from we don’t call women that name—ever.”

The guy laughed and got closer to him, “I’ll talk to her any way I want to. This isn’t Hickville, this is California.”

Before I knew what was happening, Maddox, I now knew his name, swung the guy around, bolted him in a headlock and they were both storming towards me. I could feel my eyes grow to the size of silver dollars. What was he doing?

He made the guy come to a stop in front of me and then clipped the back of his knees with his foot which made Pig kneel in front of me. “I asked nicely,” Maddox said to him through clenched teeth, “Now I’m asking not nicely, apologize to the lady before you pass out.” He mumbled a sorry and I accepted, I think. I was so shocked I could hardly speak.

Amy's Thoughts~

Maddox is a mystery man. At first glance, particularly, in the previous books, he was the funny guy, the one who always made light of any situation. Could make anyone laugh. Maddox is a pretty tormented guy. He's held on for so long wondering about his real father, that he's on mission to find him. To find the answers to his questions. He hopes he's not hurting his family in the process. What no one knows about Mad, is that he gets an itchy feeling when he touches other people, even his family. He doesn't feel cold. Almost as if he is so tormented he's blocked out all feeling.

Storey, wow, what a MC! She's a derby princess, but for the past few years, she's been playing a pin up model to pay for college. She's got the pin up glamour down pat, and boy can she work it! The great thing about Storey? Even though she's famous, she's totally down to earth, looking forward to the end of her contract & the normal things in life. Maddox and Storey meet by pure chance that they have ended up on the same beach. They are instantly attracted to one another, but Maddox is terrified that if he touches her he will get that feeling again. It's a wild ride to go on with Maddox as he discovers new things about himself and about his love for Storey and his family.

I've gone on and on about Lila Felix in my previous posts. And really, what else can I say? She has a way of telling a story that reader is so immersed in it that the lines between reality and fantasy blur. I have loved every book that she has written and she truly has a fan in me. I can not wait until the next book in the Love & Skate series.

Interview with Lila Felix~

1. What or who inspired your passion for writing?

Books, a lifetime love of books.  And my family, I wouldn’t be a writer without them.

2.  Where is your favorite place to write?

At first I wrote in my recliner, then as I started writing more and more, I can just about write anywhere.  But my favorite place is at my desk surrounded by coffee and my iPad opened to the thesaurus app.

3. Where do you find your inspiration?

Real life.  I’m one of these observant people.  I can just sit at the mall and people watch.  The stories just pop up in my brain.

4. Do you develop your characters before writing or do they just flow naturally?

I know who they are before I write them.  I know them so well.

5. Do you listen to music as you write, if so, what bands?

I listen to music from the time I get up until the time I go to sleep.  Lately, my fave bands are Phosphorescent, Noah and the Whale, The Pretty Reckless, The Heavy and the Neighbourhood.

6. If you could see your characters from Love & Skate on the big screen, who would play them?

Oh, wow.  I have no idea.  I would just be excited to have it be a movie.

7.  Do you have any quirky habits you do while writing? If so, What are they?

I usually wear my husband’s Lowe’s #48 hat when I’m writing.  I always have coffee.  And headphones—headphone are a must.

8. Do you have any tattoos? If not, what would you choose if you got one?
I don’t.  My husband has over a dozen but I don’t.  I’m too afraid of needles.  If I could have one, I would get a quote from Pablo Neruda, my favorite poet and an anchor, I love the old school anchors.  My husband has two.

9. Who are YOUR favorite authors?

Shelly Crane, Rachel Higginson, Anne Eliot, Anne Hargrove, Claire Farrell, Rachel Deagan, Katella Stegmann.

10. If someone wanted to get started writing, what advice would you give them?

Work your butt off. Write until your eyes cross and your fingers bleed. (Not really, but you know what I mean) Don’t depend on anyone else to do the legwork for you, it’s not their book, it’s yours.  I repeat do the legwork.  Send emails to bloggers, do promotional giveaways, take full advantage of social media networks (Facebook, Twitter, Goodreads, Spotify, IHeartRadio, Pinterest, Tumblr), find a group of authors that you can rely on for advice and help.  Then write, write, write some more.
