*Review* Nice Girls Don't Ride by Roni Loren

 April 21, 2015

Nice Girls Don't Ride by Roni Loren

In this erotically charged novella by the New York Times bestselling author of Call on Me, Nothing Between Us, and Not Until You two strangers take an asphalt-burning ride into the wildest night of their lives...

Natalie Bourne thinks she has the perfect night planned for her twenty-first birthday. But when her car breaks down and her boyfriend bails on her, she's left stranded in an auto shop dealing with a way too cocky, way too hot mechanic, who seems to be intent on pushing every button she has.

Monroe Hawkins knows he shouldn't be messing with a girl from the uppity private college. Especially when he can tell she sees him as the help. But he's having trouble resisting the redhead with the smart mouth and the killer legs. So when Natalie's night goes from bad to worse, there's no way he's letting her spend her birthday alone. He makes her a deal--he'll take her home but not until the sun comes up.

Ten hours, one motorcycle, and the city of Austin at their fingertips...things are about to take a major detour. And soon, there may be no U-turn in sight.

Includes a preview of Roni Loren's Call on Me

Praise for Roni Loren and her novels
"Hot and romantic, with an edge of suspense."--Shayla Black, New York Times bestselling author
"Revved up and red-hot sexy."--Lorelei James, New York Times bestselling author
"Sure to have readers begging for more!"--Jo Davis, national bestselling author

Once again Roni Loren is rocking our socks off. She never fails to put out some great work for her readers and NGDR - while short - is nothing less than wonderful.

Natalie has everything set for her birthday. It's her 21st after all. So when her car breaks down, her boyfriend bails on her, and she's left stranded at a body shop for the night does she realize just how crappy her luck is.

Then Monroe comes along.

Knowing she's a good girl, he keeps his distance, then he finds out it's her birthday. Now he's screwed, he can't let her have a bad night. He vows if she stays out with him until the sun comes up, she will have the best night ever.

Did he manage to turn everything around and save her special day?

Roni wrote her first romance novel at age fifteen when she discovered writing about boys was way easier than actually talking to them. Since then, her flirting skills haven't improved, but she likes to think her storytelling ability has. Though she'll forever be a New Orleans girl at heart, she now lives in Dallas with her husband and son.

If she's not working on her latest sexy story, you can find her reading, watching reality television, or indulging in her unhealthy addiction to rockstars, er, rock concerts. Yeah, that's it.

She is the New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author of the Loving on the Edge series and other sexy things.

The Best Medicine ~ Elizabeth Hayley

The first novel in a sparkling and sexy new contemporary romance series about four best friends looking for love in all the right places—and the one woman who discovers that it takes more than an impeccable bedside manner to make dreams come true.…

Lauren Hastings is finally ready to enter the real world. At twenty-six, she’s about to get her master’s in psychology, and she’s well on her way to beginning the career of her dreams—until she suffers public humiliation and has to endure something she thought she’d never have to deal with again: a part-time job.

A gig at Trinity Hospital isn’t exactly Lauren’s definition of a good time, but Dr. Scott Jacobs quickly changes her mind. He’s straight-up gorgeous, and he always gets what he wants. And that includes Lauren. It’s an ideal arrangement for both of them. No strings. Just fun—at least at first.

But feelings quickly begin to run deeper than either Lauren or Scott is willing to admit, causing issues neither of them want to confront. After all, who wants to risk the perfect relationship on something as terrifying, as messy, and as unpredictable as love?

AVAILABLE JUNE 2, 2015
PRE-ORDER NOW!!

This was a fantastic introduction to a new series.

What do you do when the lines you drew in the sand suddenly become blurred?? Well duh. You freak out!

Dr. Scott Jacobs is absolutely nothing like what Lauren was expecting when she took her mom up on the offer to pay off her newly acquired "debt" with a part time job. Lauren is gorgeous, she's one of those girls that you just know you'd be best friends with and probably end up in jail with by the end of the night. So it's hard to believe that she's also in school to be a psychiatrist.  Scott was certainly shocked.

Scott Jacobs is a player. He's also a sexy hot 29 year old genius doctor. He never spends the night. Never hangs out. And definitely never brings a woman home to his house. So when he proposes that he & Lauren hang out and explore this chemistry between them, he certainly never expected to wake up one day and be sad she's not there, or to realize that they do have... a relationship.

Elizabeth Hayley has the beginning of a gold mine here. With Lauren's out right ridiculous mouth - you never know what she is going to say; Scott's angsty world; their insane crazy friends and family. This series is going to be phenomenal. I can not wait to find out who book 2 is about, but I have my suspicions.

Elizabeth Hayley is actually "Elizabeth" and "Hayley," two friends who love reading romance novels to obsessive levels. This mutual love prompted them to put their English degrees to good use by penning their own. The product is Pieces of Perfect, their debut novel. They learned a ton about one another through the process, like how they clearly share a brain and have a persistent need to text each other constantly (much to their husbands' chagrin).

"Elizabeth" lives with her husband, daughter, and nutjob of a dog. "Hayley" lives with her husband, son, and her own crazy dog. Thankfully, their children are still too young to read.

Elizabeth Hayley's writing motto is best captured by the words of Patrick Dennis: "I always start with a clean piece of paper and a dirty mind."

**Review & Giveaway** Branded ~ The Cavanaugh Brothers ~ Laura Wright

In the small town of River Black, Texas, sits the Triple C—a working cattle ranch that sustains the town. But it also holds painful memories and shocking secrets for the Cavanaugh brothers...

When the Cavanaugh brothers return home for their father’s funeral, they discover unexpected evidence of the old man’s surprising double life—a son named Blue, who wants the Triple C Ranch as much as they do. The eldest son, Deacon, a wealthy businessman who couldn’t wait to leave the ranch and move on with his life, is looking to use his powerful connections to stop Blue at any cost. He never expected the ranch’s forewoman, Mackenzie Byrd, to get in his way.

Mac knows Deacon means to destroy the ranch and therefore destroy her livelihood. But as the two battle for control, their attraction builds. Now Deacon is faced with the choice of a lifetime: Take down the Triple C to feed his need for revenge, or embrace the love of the one person who has broken down every barrier to his heart.

As we all know, Laura Wright is an amazing author. She has several Best Sellers titles under her belt to prove it. So when she came out with The Cavanaugh Brothers, I had a feeling it was going to be awesome. I know there's nothing sexier than a cowboy who's not afraid to get his hands dirty.

As Deacon and his brothers return home for the funeral of their father, secrets are revealed - from more than one source. Secrets that have the power to bring the brothers to their knees. Secrets that are so monumental, they will shatter the image of one man. And have the potential to shatter a town.

Mac knows very little other than the Triple C has always been her home. First as a child, now as it's foreman. She will go to whatever lengths necessary to protect her livelihood from the one man who wants to torch the place. Even seduce him.

If you haven't checked out Branded, get on that. It's a twisting, sensual tale of what happens behind closed doors, even when the outside seems so perfect. Bravo Laura Wright, I can't wait to read the next book in the series. <3
I was born and raised in Minnesota. It’s where my love of all things green, wet and grown in the ground comes from. As you read above, before writing I was an actor, singer and dancer, specifically a BALLROOM dancer - an instructor and competitor as well. That work took me to many places like New York, Ohio and Wisconsin. I live in Los Angeles now, but I’m always thinking about greener pastures – literally.

**Review & Giveaway** When Day Breaks ~ KGI 9 ~ Maya Banks

The Kelly Group International (KGI): A super-elite, top secret, family-run business.
Qualifications: High intelligence, rock-hard body, military background.
Mission: Hostage/kidnap victim recovery. Intelligence gathering. Handling jobs the U.S. government can’t…

Eden is said to be one of the most beautiful women in the world. Her face has graced countless magazines and her body has sold millions of dollars of clothing. But her fame and beauty has earned her more than she ever imagined. Evil is stalking her, determined to extinguish the ethereal beauty forever.

Swanson or “Swanny” as his teammates call him is always up for the next mission. He came back from Afghanistan wounded and scarred. Hardly the kind of man who even belongs in the same room with Eden. And yet there’s something about the quiet beauty that stirs his blood and makes him dream of the impossible. Because Beauty loving the beast only happens in fairy tales and KGI doesn’t deal in fairy tales. Ever.

I was rather anxious to read and review this one. I am always hesitant to review someone like The Maya Banks. I mean come on, she's phenomenal, what could a little ole reviewer from Kentucky have to say? Ya know what I mean?

So I adore the KGI series (thanks Tonya ;) ). Adore it. It's an addiction. We've got sexy, bad ass, military guys - kickin butt, takin' names, & rescuing the damsel in distress. Who doesn't love that?? I never - EVER - thought I would say this, but...
I was disappointed with Swanny's book.

With the KGI series, readers have come to expect a couple of things. 1. The aforementioned hot, sexy, military guys (check that off the list) 2. Damsel in distress (check) and finally 3. Kick butt and takin' names (no check here). And yes, I'm fully aware I just repeated myself. There was very little fighting in this book. There was very little interaction from the entire Kelly family. Very little interaction with the brothers. There was also several key characters missing from this book that we generally get an update on in a KGI novel. It was more of a babysitting job than it was a recon mission. I feel as though I was jipped.

While the story itself was indeed a great story, it's just not what I have come to expect from the KGI & Maya. Please, I am not discouraging you from reading this story, it is after all a piece of KGI. I am warning you that it's not a typical KGI addition.

Maya Banks and KGI is my #1 favorite series. I love the Kelly men and all they stand for! The "strays" that have been adopted into the family are loved just as dearly. Swanny had a rough go of it for quite a while. But coming into the family and the KGI team was just what he needed. But I was quite disappointed with his story. I felt this book repeated itself constantly. There was hardly any action that we're use to. And nil to nada from the other brothers. This is 1 you will have to read to judge for yourself. But it definitely wasn't the typical KGI story we're all use to.
Maya Banks is the #1 New York Times, #1 USA Today and international bestselling author of over 50 novels. A wife and mother of three, she lives in Texas.

**Review & Giveaway** Stranded with a Billionaire ~ Billionaire Boys Club 1 ~Jessica Clare

The Billionaire Boys Club is a secret society of six men who are incredibly wealthy—but not always so successful when it comes to love…

With a visit to a recent business acquisition—a private island resort in the Bahamas—billionaire Logan Hawkings has a chance to mend his recently broken heart. But a hurricane, a misplaced passport, and a stalled elevator lead to an encounter with an unusual woman.

Brontë Dawson is down-to-earth, incredibly sensual, and even quotes Plato. She also thinks Logan is simply the hotel’s domineering yet sexy manager. And after several steamy island nights in his arms, Brontë’s ready to give her heart—and her body—to the man in charge. There’s just more to Logan than he’s told her…a billion times more.

The Billionaire's Boys Club.

Where were these clubs when I was single? They are, as usual, full of hot, sexy, funny men, who just so happen to be billionaires.

First up in the club is Logan Hawkings. HOT DAMN. One seriously sexy man, who we find was a little lost in the world of women, but once his sense of humor comes out of hiding, it makes him that much more attractive. Stuck on an island, in a hurricane with Bronte, he chooses to withhold his "true" identity. Why? Because all women want the billionaire, they never want the man.

Bronte - abandoned by her "friend" - is now stuck with a man whom she believes is the manager of the hotel she's staying at. Bronte is gorgeous, quirky, quite the interesting woman. Over days of hurricane bonding, they begin to fall. But how's that gonna work when she has no idea who he really is?

Jessica Clare did a fantastic job with this story. I loved it from beginning to end. And I am enamoured with the boys in the Billionaire's Club. I can not wait to get my hands on the rest of them. I guess I just wonder if I should hold out for the next book from Netgally, or will I head to Amazon and get my fill now? I think I'll be one-clickin' in just a bit!!

This is a pen name for Jill Myles.

Jill Myles has been an incurable romantic since childhood. She reads all the 'naughty parts' of books first, looks for a dirty joke in just about everything, and thinks to this day that the Little House on the Prairie books should have been steamier.

After devouring hundreds of paperback romances, mythology books, and archaeological tomes, she decided to write a few books of her own - stories with a wild adventure, sharp banter, and lots of super-sexy situations. She prefers her heroes alpha and half-dressed, her heroines witty, and she loves nothing more than watching them overcome adversity to fall into bed together.

**Review & Giveaway** What A Woman Needs ~ Manley Maids 2 ~ Judi Fennell

What happens when three irresistibly sexy brothers lose a poker bet to their enterprising sister? They get hired out for her housecleaning venture. Now, the Manley Maids are at your service. Satisfaction guaranteed. It’s what a woman needs...

Big shot movie star Bryan Manley is destined for fame and fortune, not a repeat of his penny-pinching "normal" childhood. But a bet is a bet, so he agrees to play maid for Beth Hamilton—as long as he can use his servitude as research for his next role, and then resume his life in the spotlight.

After her husband’s death and the publicity surrounding it, all Beth needs is a quiet, normal life for herself and her children. She never expected a new Prince Charming to show up at her door, let alone as the new maid. But when the paparazzi follow, Beth is sure of one thing: Bryan has to go.

Then flirtation turns into seduction, and Bryan needs to convince Beth he’s more man than maid—or an actor playing a maid. Because this latest gig as the love of Beth Hamilton’s life just might be the role of a lifetime…

In the 2nd installment of Manley Maids, we get to see hot shot movie star Bryan in action. Bryan  has no idea what he's gotten himself into when he reports for duty on Monday morning. But a deal is a deal, and he will follow through. He had the time off anyway. When sexy mom, Beth, answers the door, Bryan has to constantly remind himself that 1. She's a mom. 2. She's a widow.

Beth has been living in a fog. In a constant reminder of her lost love. Her constant battle day to day with her 5 kids to keep her head above water. It seems like everything goes wrong all at once, and as soon as she fixes one thing, another tornado happens. Life with kids! Having her friends order a Manley Maid seems too good to be true. When THE Bryan Manley shows up on her door step, things start happening to her body that she's not quite ready to deal with.

Bryan and Beth become closer and deal with some seriously funny situations that would come with having a movie star in the house. Beth finds herself more and more ready to make a move where Bryan is concerned.

Step up to Manely Maids! Judi Fennell will have you laughing out loud at the antic of the kids and the dog as your transported back to when you yourself was a kid driving your mom crazy. Fantastic addition to the Manley Maids series. The link to book one in the series is below - although all of them can be read as standalones, I find them better if you read them in order with the series.

What a Woman Wants ~ Amazon

Judi's Top 5 Must See Movies This Summer

#5 – This is a toss up and it has to do with hot guys: Neighbors with Zac Efron who is now of legal enough age that I can ogle and not feel like a dirty old woman, or 21 Jump Street with Channing Tatum whom I ogled quite a lot in Magic Mike. So maybe I’ll go see both.

#4 – Hercules – Because I love the old stories and The Rock just looks amazing! It’s nice to see him bulked up and being an action hero again. The special effects look amazing and it looks to be an edge-of-your-seat ride. Well worth the gazillion dollars you have to pay to see movies these days.

#3 – Maleficent – I’m not a huge Angelina Jolie fan (still have issues with the whole cheating with a married man thing, but that’s just me), but I do love me some fairy tales. I can’t wait to see how they tell this story because we always hear it from Aurora’s side. And after seeing WICKED, I am very psyched to see the spin. Plus the special effects look awesome.

#2 – Xmen, Days of Future Past. First reason I want to see this? Hugh Jackman. Need I say more? Do I even need another reason? Okay, well here it is. Kid was in basic training for the Reserves and loves these movies. Said Kid is now home so this is our Mother-Kid celebration. My treat to take Kid, and my treat to enjoy the time with Kid since I don’t get a lot of it. Oh, and there’s action , adventure, excitement, adrenaline, superpowers, and did I mention Hugh? ;)

#1 – Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. I’m a HUGE fan of the original Charlton Heston version. Loved loved loved it. Not so keen on the others that followed it because they just couldn’t hold onto the fascination of this whole new world we were introduced to in the first one. So when Rise of the Planet of the Apes with James Franco came out in 2011, I didn’t hold out much hope. Boy was I wrong. I LOVED that movie! They took the important parts of Charlton’s version and really tied it in well. And the scene when the credits are rolling… eerily possible. .That was the thing that got me that I don’t know was really considered back in the late 60s when the first one came out. Back then, it was nuclear holocaust that did the world in—or at least intimated that it was. The explanation in the James Franco version was so possible it’s scary. And the nods to the original in 2011’s version were wonderful (I’m all about nods. Read my I Dream of Genies and see how many nods you can find to the tv show. No one’s gotten them all yet.) So now, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is coming and I have very high hopes that it’ll be good. Though, given that it’s the second in this series, I am trying to reign in my expectations because rarely is a second film as good as the first. But this one is definitely #1 to see this summer because all of us liked the last one and the kids really want to see it. So this is our family outing, which, given their ages, is a tough thing to arrange these days.

Note from Judi~

In my latest release, I give a nod to a few of my favorite movies. There are five kids in this story: Kevin who’s fourteen, Kelsey almost-thirteen-going-on-thirty, twin boys who are eight: Mark and Tommy, and five-year-old-Maggie. They are huge fans of the Harry Potter series, and the twins happen to have a set of light sabers, which Bryan, the hero of WHAT A WOMAN NEEDS, uses for a good explanation of watching each others’ back. Mom Beth is feeling decidedly un-Princess-Leia-ish, what with being a widow with five kids, a hyperactive dog, a cat who sheds all over the place, and two hamsters who may end up as lunch for the dog if they get out of their cage. So Beth’s friends decide she needs some help around the house and they call in the cleaning company. But not just any cleaning company; they call Manley Maids. Hunky brother, Bryan, who lost a poker bet to his sister, the owner of Manley Maids, shows up to pay off his debt.

And meeting Beth might be the best hand he's ever been dealt.

Taking a deep breath and straightening his shoulders, Bryan bit the bullet and rang the bell.

Instantly a chorus of barks, shrieks, and a couple of “Expelliarmus!” spells erupted, followed by a nasty crash and some muttered cursing.

Then she opened the door.

For a moment, Bryan just stared.

Then his PR training kicked in and he ramped up the Charmer smile that was not only his signature look, but one that came naturally around beautiful women.

And she was stunning. From her artfully messy, wavy brown hair, to the curves just hinted at beneath the open neckline of the mis-buttoned blouse, to the yoga pants that hugged shapely legs that went on forever, the woman was almost as tall as he was and built like a woman should be, rounded in all the right places with just enough to hold on to for the ride of a lifetime.

Maybe this wasn’t going to be such a bad gig after all.

Then the kids hit the scene, heads popping out behind her like some dance number in a musical.

And they didn’t stop popping. Three. Four. Five. She had her own basketball team.

Bryan reined in the smile. He didn’t hit on married women, and he didn’t hit on moms.

He especially didn’t hit on married moms.

Of five.

“Who are you?” Kid number two, or maybe three, asked.

“Honestly, Kelsey, that’s no way to greet someone.” The woman rolled her gorgeous coffee-colored eyes as she flicked her finger under the girl’s chin, then she wiped away her annoyed look and smiled at him.

This time his Charmer smile appeared of its own volition. Bryan couldn’t help it. When she smiled, she was beyond stunning, and it made him glad he was a man—but annoyed she was married.

And a mom.

Of five.

“Can I help you?”

Let me count the ways. Bryan caught himself before he started spouting sonnets. “I’m here to clean your toilet.”

Way to go, idiot. Brilliant opening line.

“I beg your pardon?”

She could beg for whatever she wanted, and he’d give her every single thing.

I have been writing for as long as I can remember, winning my first writing award in a second grade Caldecott Medal contest. Readers' Digest gave me my very first publishing credit in April, 1994, and I was hooked. I seemed to have followed writing contests around, being a finalist in such online contests as American Title III, sponsored by Romantic Times BOOKreview Magazine and Dorchester Publishing, and two First Chapters contests, sponsored by Gather.com and Simon & Schuster/Pocket Books.

My imaginary friend was Casper the Friendly Ghost. The little ghoul even had a special place set for him at our dinner table and got blamed for many of my childhood mishaps. I grew up watching Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie and The Addams Family--my mom looked like Elizabeth Montgomery and I had a special Barbie outfit that looked like Morticia Addams' dress. My favorite books are Bewitching by Jill Barnett and A Knight In Shining Armor, by Jude Devereaux, so it should come as no surprise that I like to write tongue-in-cheek lighthearted paranormals.

I love pop culture and manipulating language, so you'll find lots of puns, double entrendre, plays-on-words, alliteration, clichés, and twisting of phrases, as well as several one-liners in my stories that give me a few chuckles. I studied Spanish at Penn State (Go Lions!), lived in Spain and traveled throughout that beautiful country.

I've always written and still have my journal from fourth grade where, even then, my stories were full of fantastical creatures, whimsy and magic. I wrote my first romance in 9th grade and still have that story in my memory chest. Even back then I dreamed of being a writer.

Now with kids, a husband, a house, a social life (Go Survivor Girls!), and two cocker spaniels named Vixen and Raven, I get to live my dream of being a writer!

I've also published, under the name J.A. Fenn, a horror anthology. Yes, a bit different from light-hearted romance, but just as much fun to write. Hope you check out Off The Beaten Path, A Terrifying Tales Anthology.

**Review** All of You ~ Christina Lee

Avery has just met her hot upstairs neighbor. He's irresistible. Tattooed. And a virgin.

Nursing student Avery Michaels wants nothing to do with dating—she's perfectly happy single. Privy to too many of her mother's bad decisions and even worse taste in boyfriends, all Avery can handle is a string of uncomplicated hookups whenever the mood strikes.

When she meets smoking hot tattoo artist Bennett, she wants him—for just one night. But he won't accept a no-strings-attached arrangement. He lives by a straight-laced code of values based on his own troubled upbringing.

Bennett sees something special in Avery and he wants more from her. Way more. As Avery wrestles with her emotions for Bennett, danger and tragedy force them to open up to each other. And Avery must face the terrifying realization that she wants more from him, too.

So she needs to make a choice—let Bennett go or finally let him in.

Dear Lord, where has Christina Lee been hiding?

Considering this book has little more than heavy petting throughout the novel, it was SCORCHING hot.

Avery is the female version of a player. No strings. Ever. That was her motto. After a crap shoot life at home, at college, Avery keeps everything simple and easy. Why go for anything else? Then she meets Bennett. The one guy she craves. The one guy that's there for her through everything. The one she can't have.

Bennett is a tattoed, artist, virgin. Yep, you read that right - a virgin. Why? He saw what happened to his mom, he saw what happened to his sister, he didn't want the same future for himself. So he's saved himself for the woman he will love for the rest of his life. *swoon* Meeting Avery wasn't on his list. Saving her wasn't ever a thought in his head. Loving her? huh.

Brillant! Loved loved loved this book.

Mother, wife, reader, dreamer. Christina lives in the Midwest with her husband and son--her two favorite guys.

She's addicted to lip gloss and salted caramel everything. She believes in true love and kissing, so writing romance novels has become a dream job.
