BT ***** Leaving Amarillo by Casey Quinn *****

Release date: March 17, 2015

Leaving Amarillo synopsis:
Dixie Lark hasn’t had it easy. She lost her parents in an accident when she was young and grew up in a ramshackle house on a dirt road in Amarillo with her ailing grandparents and overprotective older brother. Thanks to her grandfather, Dixie learned to play a mean fiddle, inspired by the sounds of the greats—Johnny and June, Waylon, and Hank. Her grandfather’s fiddle changed Dixie’s life forever, giving her an outlet for the turmoil of her broken heart and inspiring a daring dream.

Ten years later, Dixie and her brother, Dallas, are creating the music they love and chasing fame with their hot band, Leaving Amarillo. But Dixie isn’t enjoying the ride. All she can think about is Gavin, the band’s tattooed, tortured drummer who she’s loved since they were kids. She knows he feels the connection between them, but he refuses see her as more than his best friend’s little sister.

Convinced that one night with Gavin will get him out of her system, Dixie devises a plan. She doesn’t know that her brother has forbidden Gavin from making a move on her-a promise he swore he’d always keep . . . a promise that once broken will unexpectedly change the future for Dixie, Gavin and the band.

I've taken the first hit, and already I'm addicted

When I finished this book, I simply turned off my tablet and sat and stared out the window. This book pulled so many emotions from me as I read the struggles of what life can throw your way, even as a small innocent child all the way through adulthood.

Bluebird aka Dixie has had an unwavering love for someone who she knows should be so far from her vision of what she wants, yet the fire keeps pulling her towards him.

Dallas, Dixie's brother, made a promise to his dad 10 years ago to always watch out and protect his little sister, that it may have been done out of love and respect, but he will eventually find out, that she isn't the 9 year old little sister she was back when that promise was made.

Gavin, the troubled, forgotten about boy that stumbles upon Dallas and Dixie the day of their parents funeral, proves to be the loyal best friend Dallas needs just at the right time.

Dallas makes Gavin promise him from day one he won't lay a hand on Dixie. But as they have grown into adults, and they have each lived their lives and made mistakes along the way, Gavin can no longer keep his promise. The feelings of pain and not knowing what true love feels like, or being shown love from a mother growing up, Gavin sees that a promise to spend one night with his Bluebird could be the end of the band and the life that he's known. But with the fate life throws at all three of them, you have to read this to see just what risks and changes they are all willing and fighting to make for what they all believe in deep down inside.

Caisey Quinn has me fully on board with what the rest of their stories will bring!
