With Him & Her, Carey Heywood took her writing to a new level. Any kind of addition to those two novels, would be nothing but great. Sawyer Says gives us the story of Sawyer Sterling.
Sawyer has grown up closing herself off from anyone who may get close with the exception of a few people. Jared Keller is one of those people. Best friends from a young age, they know everything about one another except for Sawyer's life surrounding her parents death and her subsequent relationship with her grandmother.
Jared Keller hated Sawyer when he first met her all those years ago, after one summer hanging out together, he loved her. He spent years loving her. Never showing his cards, never pushing her, knowing that if he did she would run. When she proposes the unthinkable, Jared jumps at the opportunity to show her how he feels.
Sawyer sets out on a journey to find out the who, what, and why of her past, Jared is one her constant. Can she let him be her rock when she needs it the most?
Carey Heywood has brought us a beautiful story of finding out who you are - for both Sawyer and Jared. I enjoyed the story from Sawyer's POV, and there was a little bit of Jared at the end of each chapter. I would have like to have gotten a bit more of him. There were moments when I felt like the story was a bit rushed, but overall fantastic addition!
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author with six books out and many more to come. She was born and raised in Alexandria, Virginia. Ever the mild-mannered citizen, Carey spends her days working in the world of finance, and at night, she retreats into the lives of her fictional characters.
