Love & Skate (Love & Skate #1) by Lila Felix

Love & Skate
Lila Felix

Nellie is a roller derby badass - or so she tries to appear. Owen is a student, doing his best to put the past behind him. Both trying to break the mold, each of them avoiding people who may have the opportunity to judge them.

Owen & Nellie see each other at a glance. Always so preoccupied that they never really paid attention, other than sly glances, each observing the other. Until one day, when Nellie is knocked - slammed - right into Owen's chest.

Owen's family is amazing, they too become a wonderful part of Nellie's life and fulfilled a place in her heart that had been missing.

This is a straight-forward love story of 2 people so alike that they can't help but be drawn together. Their love is challenge when an old friend of Owen's shows up, and the one thing that could make or break them is wavered, trust.

I have been a fan of Lila Felix since I first read Emerge. This book does not disappoint! I love the roller derby angle, & it's "out of the box" characters. Lila Felix hit this one out of the ballpark, and if you do not take the time to read it, you're definitely missing out on a great, feel good series. I, for one, can not wait to read the follow-up books!

REAL by Katy Evans

REAL
Katy Evans

Remington Tate - aka Remy, RIP, Riptide. How to describe the god that is Remington Tate? Sexy, Hot, Wow, Sweet, Aggressive, Damaged, Sexy, Protective, Possessive, Sexy.... Did I mention Sexy? Remy is an ex-pro fighter, now working the underground circuit.

Brooke Dumas is a sports rehab therapist. One who generally doesn't like watching fights, until she sees Remy move. Brooke is looking for a new job, and Remy wants to hire her, he needs a rehab therapist on the road - secretly, he'll do anything to get her to stay with him, to feel her hands on his body.

Their attraction is undeniable from the start. The way Remy looks at her. Oh so smoldering! The things they do together are oh so sweet, and I seriously want to grab my hubs and make him do it with me!

I love that the author hits notes on a very sensitive, generally unknown topic. She's brave in this aspect, because had she gotten it wrong, it would have ruined the book. Thankfully, she got it spot on, and really showed the readers an inside view. I'm trying so hard not to give spoilers and its so difficult to write around a topic.

Trust me when I say that, REAL, is a book that you will read again and again. The love between Remy & Brooke is one that most couple aspire to. Their passion is WOW.

Katy Evans has a new fan, and I can't wait to find out what else is in store for Remy & Brooke.

Beautiful Bastard by Christina Lauren

Beautiful Bastard
By: Christina Lauren

I had never heard of this book until recently, of course from the title alone I was captivated. I had thought I was in for a Fifty-ish book with a cliffhanger. PLEASE NOTE - This book does not have a cliffhanger. I'm glad I was wrong.

Bennet Ryan is a bastard. He knows it, his family knows it, and so does Chloe. He's tried for the past 9 months to ignore his raging attraction to Chloe. Hiding behind snarky comments, clipped heated words, hoping that his attraction would diminish over Time. He was wrong.

What's starts out as straight up, hatred fucking - we are talking A LOT of sex here! And not a lot of it in a bed - eventually grows into more. Ever thought about christening your office? Yea these two take it to a whole new level. If you have considered it, read this for further planning! ;-)

I know some people are probably all weirded out by his panty fascination, but seriously, how is this any different than any other fetish a controlling man has?! It could be worse, he could have been wearing them. Just sayin'!

Their sexual chemistry is so explosive it almost blows you away! It's like flames shooting off the pages H.O.T.

This book is a straight forward love story with a man who thinks he's in control and a woman who quickly corrects him. It's amusing to watch Chloe put Bennet in his place, over and over again. There isn't the deep, dark secrets. I would have liked to have scene more character development. We got bit and pieces in the book. And it was a good book, but it could have been so much more. There wasn't a climax here either. A little bit of issues, but hell, we knew they had issues from page one.

I will read the 2nd book in the series & I will definitely pick up this author again. I might even give it a read when I'm in the mood for something hot & quick. ;-)

About Suly Mulholland:

I was born in Honduras but raised in Green Bay, Wisconsin from a very early age. I went to St. Norbert College in De Pere, WI before joining the U.S. Navy in 2006. After my short career in the military, I got married and started having kids. I have two munchkins now I’ve been a stay at home mom for a couple of years.
This past Christmas, my husband got a Nook Color as a gift and he never got to use it because it was always glued to my hands. I never liked reading but once I picked up that Nook—I was addicted. So I’ve read a TON of books and it’s become my getaway. I started writing as a hobby but after I finished Stay, my husband encouraged me to get out there…so here I am. I love listening to music and find it inspirational and I think that it goes hand in hand with writing.

Off Limits EXCERPT & GIVEAWAY

Off Limits Excerpt & Giveaway!!!!!!!!!
Sawyer Bennett

Synopsis:

“There is a vulnerability there, hovering just below the surface. And I want to pick at it until I expose it. Then I want to kiss it."

Two years ago, Emily Burnham, had an epiphany about the shallowness of her life. And she made it her mission to become a different person…a better woman. Out from under the controlling thumb of her mother, Emily is tasting the real world for the first time. And she likes it.

Nixon Caldwell has served his time in the Marine Corps, surviving two brutal tours in Afghanistan. He is back home, surrounded by what he likes best…isolation. It's certainly the easiest way to avoid confrontation of the consuming guilt that is weighing him down.

When an accident brings Emily and Nix together, he soon learns he is not the master of his own fate. Struggling with his own pain, Nix tries to guard himself against Emily’s charms. He wants her in his bed, but he doesn’t want her in his heart.

Having grabbed life by the horns, Emily wants it all. But is she willing to accept just the small part of himself that Nix is offering? Can she reach the part of his soul that he has deemed to be Off Limits?

This book is the follow up novel to Off Sides by Sawyer Bennett. However, Off Sides can be read as a stand-alone.

EXCERPT:

"This can't happen, Emily."
The disbelief on her face pours through into her voice. "Why?"
Why indeed?
All of those reasons that were sparking through my brain are lost. I know I had sound logic not just ten seconds ago, but I can't grasp it right now.
"Because...we're not...compatible."
She stuns me when she laughs, genuine delight showing in her eyes. "Oh, we're compatible. Your working parts and mine were in perfect alignment just a few seconds ago."
Damn, that is hot!
She's clearly saying that wasn't just a kiss. She's saying she was imagining those multiple orgasms just the way I was. I almost lunge at her to pull her back in my arms, but I have a shocking moment of clarity.
I shake my head at her. "Our parts are definitely compatible, Em. But that's all it would be. It would never be anything but a fuck."
I expect those words to hurt her...to enrage her...to make her realize that Nix Caldwell is the world's biggest asshole. I hope those words cause her to go running from my house in tears.
Instead, she says, "So?"

Meet Sawyer Bennett:

Off Limits by Sawyer Bennett **ARC review**

****RELEASE TUESDAY, APRIL 16TH****

Off Limits
By Sawyer Bennett

***ARC provided by author in exchange for an honest review. ***

After being raised in a political household where appearances are everything, Emily Burnham has finally broken free. Now that she's away from home at college, has her best friends & brother close by, Emily can be herself. She's at the top of her world & loving it.

Nixon Caldwell can bring any woman to her knees, imagine his surprise when he meets Emily. Nix is a war veteran, trying to get his new business off the ground and doing a great job pretending like all is well in his world. And then, Emily comes crashing in. She is a force that he is not prepared to deal with.

I love Emily. When we first met Emily in Off Sides, she's was a snide, spoiled brat who hung on Mother's coat tails. If Mother said the sky was purple, Emily would agree. If Mother said to hate someone because they were beneath her, Emily would agree. I hated her. And when I found out that she was the MC in this book, I seriously wondered how Emily could redeem herself for me. In Off Limits, the growth & changes we see are astounding. Emily is someone I would be friends with.

Nix is an asshole, straight up. He's hot, but an asshole nonetheless. Nix has been through hell and it shows with his demeanor. I love that he doesn't close himself off from the emotions that Emily evokes in him. On the same hand he doesn't pursue them either. Just kinda rolling with the punches. It's awesome to watch Nix come to the realization that Emily calms him & fulfills him in ways he's only found with his dog, Harley.

What's so awesome with Nix & Emily's story is that they come together under less than ordinary circumstances to the tune of $10k. Really, it's not even that they hate each other, they don't, they are just so different. Nix is so closed off from relationships. Emily is so open to new experiences. It really is truly magical to see these two come together & open up to one another.

Sawyer Bennett has once again grabbed me and pulled me into this awesome world that she has created within the pages of Off Limits. She's truly a great storyteller and I look forward to her future works.

Off Sides by Sawyer Bennett

Off Sides
By Sawyer Bennett

The moment Ryan sees Danny in the diner, he's fascinated. Long blonde hair with purple tips, sporting a nose & brow ring, yea, he's fascinated. From their first date, Danny exposes Ryan to a world he's lived in, but never bothered to see.

Danny has been put through the ringer in her life, losing both of her parents in horrific ways, surprisingly, it hasn't jaded her. Danny always has a smile on her face, and she's not about to let the troubles of life bring her down. Ryan is in awe of Danny, especially after hearing if everything she has gone through. Her strength, wit, outlook, are never ending.

Ryan, while falling in love with Danny, is trying to break free of the picture perfect world his mother lives in. He don't want to be a lawyer or doctor, he doesn't want to be in politics, he wants to be free to make his own path in life. Danny becomes his supporter, his rock, his everything.

I love the strength Danny & Ryan give to one another. The gentle push of encouragement they inspire in one another. The all encompassing love they create together.

Sawyer Bennett has become one of my favorite writers. Since reading Off Sides, and getting to know Sawyer, I've encourage every reader I know to pick up this book and the up-coming Off Limits. Thank you, Sawyer, for sharing your world with us.

Falling Into You by Jasinda Wilder

Falling into You
by Jasinda Wilder

After reading this one, you've got to take a few minutes to get your thoughts together. Wow, what an emotional ride Jasinda takes us on!!! It still blows my mind and I finished it earlier this morning.

I really loved that we got a snippet of the relationship between Kyle and Nell. It gave me a real sense of how their relationship progressed from childhood friendship to infatuation to full blow adolescent love. The reader can really connect with them, we've all had that sweet, all-encompassing, passion of a first love. In that aspect, we can again connect with Nell as she falls into her grief & pain of losing Kyle.

Colton surprises me. When I got a first glimpse of Colton, I didn't expect his story. I knew that he was going to have a profound affect on Nell, especially as she coped with her grief. I loved that he was able to draw Nell out of her denial and help her. He was the only one who could.

Nell and Colton embark on a road to recovery for the both of them. Each for separate reasons hoping to get to the place they need to be.

Their story is heart wrenching, gut wrenching, but necessary. Colt is an amazing rock for Nell and vice versa.

Jasinda Wilder takes us on a roller coaster of emotions & shows us how grief can bring to souls together. Beautiful, amazing job!

Bent by HB Heinzer

Bent
By HB Heinzer

When I think about Bent, the first thing that comes to the front of my mind is one line from the blurb. "It's not possible to hide a twelve year old child in a town of 5000." I knew immediately when I read that line, I was going to be in for a great book. And honestly, I wasn't disappointed.

We meet Julia as she has gone through a divorce and has moved back to her home town temporarily, while she decides what she wants to do next. It's not that she's hurt, it's that she is free. As she bumps into some old friends, Julia soon realizes everyone round her has been keeping secrets, BIG Secrets.

Micha knew when he left Julia, he screwed up. He knew it all those years ago, he knows it now. To find out she's back in town and she's divorced?! It's the spark of hope He's been waiting for. If she doesn't hate him after he explains everything.

If there had been a moral of this story, it would have been honesty is the best policy - every time! Julia feel such heart break at the thoughts of Micha, and really can you blame her?! I read over some other reviews and in some of them, some people were so angry because Julia forgave Micha so quickly. Lets think about it. The emotions that one feels when they are heading off to college are so different than the mature emotions you experience as an adult 12 years in the future. Maybe, just maybe, Julia realizes, hey, this was 12 years ago, enough time has been wasted.

Something I loved about this book, is that this could have been anyone's story. The situations that Micha & Julia deal with, people are faced with daily. The long standing love between the two of them is obivous, but one lesson they missed out on was communication - it would have saved them both from heartache & pain.

As a reader, I did have an issue with the lack of dialogue in certain situations in the book. I felt like there was quite a few places where a written out conversation would have benefitted the book & the characters. This in no way affects how I felt about the story itself. I would read it again in a heartbeat.

Charmed Again (The Charmed Trilogy) by Lindy Zart

Charmed again
Lindy Zart

I was fully prepared to hate this book within the first 2 pages. I love Creed. I fell in love with Creed in the first edition of Charmed. My heart broke for him, I felt such despair for him. His heart was broken, his soul was stripped. I felt betrayed that he didn't get his Sunshine. Through the first few chapters, experiencing his pain and suffering was so hard for me. I wanted to wrap my arms around him and make his world ok again.

Flash forward 20 years, Creed has sequestered himself from Urian, and from Earth. Unbeknownst to him, Urain is crumbling, Manang are losing their powers, Pitied are becoming unclaimed. And no one knows why. Creed is confused and still doesn't care. The darkness is taking over him. I was ready to stop reading. I couldn't watch Creed give up and kill himself with sadness and hopelessness.

Remy is a breath of fresh air. She's been looking for Creed for years, she knows he is her future. I love her determination, no matter what Creed says to her, she doesn't go away, she won't give up. It's her determination to love Creed no matter what that ultimately brings him out of the darkness.

I know there's going to be a third book. And honestly, I am bouncing off the walls for it. Lindy Zart surprised me with this one! I'm hooked!
