Love could prove fatal in N.B. Baker’s thrilling and titillating debut, Everything. A seductive tale of romance and deception, its twists and turns lead to a shocking finale that proves no secret is left buried forever.
No one would ever mistake Ella Stone’s life for a fairy tale. Abandoned by her parents when she was an infant, Ella was raised by her grandparents on a vast Wyoming ranch. When they both pass away within a year of each other, Ella must contemplate her own future for the first time.
Upon moving to Detroit to be closer to friends, Ella is immediately swept away by the passionate, up-and-coming artist Hunter. But their romance comes to an abrupt end when she catches him in bed with another woman. Struggling to move on, Ella meets Chance St. John. Their coincidental run-ins seem almost comical at first. Until the night he rescues her from a brutal attack.
As they get to know each other, Ella and Chance embark on a passionate journey that neither had ever thought possible. But Ella can’t fight the feeling that Chance is holding something back, something from his past that he’s just not willing to share.
Ella must discover the truth before Chance’s dark past destroys them both.
~~~~~~~KATRINA'S REVIEW~~~~~~~
In walks Chance St. John: a chance meeting at the grocery store (no pun intended) and then again at a club where Chance saves her from an attack from Hunter. "ZING," steam and lots of hot sex ensue, along with unexpected feelings; but so many unanswered questions about their pasts that aren't discussing, especially by Chance.
Since the reader is only seeing things from Ella's POV, we don't know all of Chance's secrets, but we do know something is amiss and causing trouble for Ella. Could it all be from Hunter or is there more at play here? Chance is a very over-protective, hot alpha male who will do anything to make sure Ella is safe, even if it isn't something she would agree with or understand.
N.B. Baker keeps the reader on our toes in this book. I will admit, it started off a little slow to get the character development the reader needs, but once that is given..."Katie Bar the Door!" The book is funny, "HOT," intriguing and mysterious! It keeps the reader guessing as to what will happen next. Did I mention "HOT?" *wicked grin*
There are a few editing errors along the way, but nothing to keep me from buying the book, which I did, even though I was given an ARC. I loved this book. Be alert! It will work your brain...But not in an overly Stephen King way. :)
