**BT & Giveaway** Spark ~ Brooke Cumberland

Final Tour Banner

Brooke Cumberland

After being saved by a firefighter, Velaney Wills meets Eric Reilley, who recently moved from Texas to Boston to work on the Boston Fire Department. Ironically, Eric lives below Velaney and with his devilish charm, and sweet accent, Velaney is finding him hard to resist. Velaney grew up in what should've been the perfect childhood. Her father owns his own dental practice, and her mother a Pastor. She wasn't allowed to swear and never got into any trouble, however, her troubled and complicated past makes her build walls that she doesn't let down easily. Eric is fascinated with the fact that Velaney can't swear. She uses filler words to express herself that he often finds hilarious. Velaney runs as her outlet - releasing the rage and anger she has built up inside her from a deep secret she's never told anyone except her lifelong best friend, and roommate, Carissa.  Eric and Velaney become running partners - only securing their obvious sexual tension between them. No matter how much Velaney pushes Eric away, he will always be there to save her.

Amy's Thoughts~

I have been a fan of Brooke Cumberland since I first read the Riverside series. It's no different with Spark. I loved the story line, it was one I hadn't come across yet.

Vel is tortured, she can't get away. Every time she thinks she's managed to escape her past, it finds a way to catch up with her again. And it's not pleasant, no matter how you spin it, it's bad.

Eric is a bit of an enigma. I really had a difficult time figuring him out. He was like a light switch for me. On, then off, on, then off. But one thing about Eric, even with his funny ways, he was always there to save Vel when she needed it.

As I said, I loved the story line, it was unlike one I have come across as a blogger/reviewer. There was parts, that I felt like needed to be a bit more evolved and it would have just made the book better.  There was also parts that I felt were a bit glossed over.

I urge you to pick up a copy for Spark, check it out, see what you think. Brooke, you did well! I love that Vel grew and found the inner strength she needed. Eric was a well played hero. I would love to see a follow up on Vel & Eric and see how they work out.

  1. hmmm. I would say Thanks for saving me.

  2. I would say to the fireman - Ohhhh, Thank You, Thank You.
And since I'm 67, I might get away with saying - O my, you're one sexy guy.
---- BUT knowing me, I don't think I could say that out loud to him; but I'd sure say it to my daughter!!!!

  3. Can't wait to read this one. Great giveaway!
